With everything due to reopen in the coming week, I thought it would be a good time to post about the best establishments for students to dine at!
1. Frankie and Bennys - despite being a chain, this establishment offers decent prices to its customers, as well as many different discounts and deals. A notable one being the "2-for-1" deal, whereby they serve two courses for the price of one. They also often offer deals specifically catering to students, (proof needed). Another major bonus is their extremely varied menu - pizzas, burgers, pasta dishes, and lots more - offering something for everyone.
2. Bootleggers - this establishment has been mentioned previously on the goodfoodblog. It is so conveniently located in Belfast City Centre, perfect for those working in town or just in for a shop. The place consistently does deals and discounts - featured on their social media, so very easy and accessible to find. Their menu is a nice blend of "pub-grub" whilst also featuring different types of food, such as their "Mexican Monday". Additionally, this place is very cost-effective - making it very appealing for students.
3. Maggie Mays - this cafe has expanded into three different locations over the past few years. This evolution is a testament to just how good the food is. They are located in very convenient spots for students, Botanic, Stranmillis and City Centre. The food is traditional homely dishes, like Ulster fry, burgers, lasagne and lots of other favourites. They frequently advertise new additions to the menu on their Facebook page - such as a range of seasonal milkshakes and coffees.
4. Villa Italia - located conveniently in the student area on University Road, this a top student location. Well-known for their traditional pasta dishes, they also offer pizza and a range of chicken dishes. Their food is moderately priced, however, this directly competes with more expensive Italian places in the area - such as Scalinis. This is definitely a must-visit establishment, particularly for students living nearby.
