First official post, this week I visited Bootleggers with a friend of mine.
Bootleggers is an extremely well-known student area. The business appeals to students through a consistent use of their social media pages. Through a use of amusing memes, posts and pictures they promote their business. And very often have discounts and bargains, which definitely suit their target clientele - students.
Bootleggers is central in Belfast and super handy to get to if you are for some retail therapy - right behind Victoria Square. Unless you pick a good time the place is often busy and requires a booking or for walk-ins to go on a waiting list for a table. However, the wait is definitely worth it.
Whilst there we picked a range of things to try, I had heard very good things about their tacos meaning these were a 'must-try' on my list. We both picked the pulled pork tacos - pulled pork, chilli & maple butter, queso, BBQ sauce and lettuce.
In addition to the tacos we also ordered pulled pork nachos (a sort of theme of the meal) and the "Parful fries". If you are a fan of nachos then this is definitely a great place to go. They are a regular favourite of mine and a definite go to in any place that serves them. The "Parful fries" consisted of a nice mix of regular fries and sweet potato fries. As well as a mixture of garlic butter, parmasean, sourcream and bacon bits.
Other notable points? Every staff member we came across was very friendly and checked on our table enough times to be diligent without pushy. I think it is notable to add that this is not a fine dining establishment, this is high quality pub comfort food - which in my opinion is unbeatable, especially with a pint of cold cider.
